NAF Electro Salts 1kg

During heavy work or hot summer days, horses lose a lot of fluid through sweating. This is the way horses regulate their body temperature. Not only fluid is lost, but also essential electrolytes (salts). Sodium, potassium, chloride and magnesium in particular are lost. So if you have a busy competition weekend ahead of you or a week of intensive training and the weather is hot, it is important to keep a close eye on a horse's electrolyte balance. A horse loses about 7 to 10 litres of sweat per hour of effort in trot and gallop. Normal horse feed naturally contains little salt, which makes it difficult for horses to replenish this themselves. NAF electro salts is a good way to keep your horse's salt content at the right level. A horse cannot store salt in its body and excessive use puts a strain on the stomach. So only use it as a supplement to deficiencies due to heavy exercise. Use a Himalaya lick stone for the daily salt requirement.

Horses:
Competitions (1-3 days) 60g per day or 6 scoops per day (scoop included)
Work: 30g per day or 3 scoops

Ponies:
Competitions (1-3 days) 40 grams or 4 scoops
Work: 20g or 2 scoops

NAF electro salt can be dissolved in water (10g per 5L lukewarm/warm water) or can be given over the feed. During peak moments such as endurance or 3-day eventing 2 scoops (20 g per 100kg) body weight per day or 1 scoop per 5L water. Preferably give with lukewarm water to stimulate drinking. Always ensure that your horse has sufficient water available.
